London Heathrow

London Heathrow is the biggest airport of London. Almost every airline flies to this airport, so getting to this airport won’t be a problem. If you want to make a transfer from a long haul flight to another destination in the world, you will probably have to choose this airport. But if you want to fly from another city in Europe, or you want to make a transfer to another city in Europe, it’s best to check the other airports for alternatives.

The airport has (just like London City Airport) one runway, but it’s also possible to fly from/to some long haul routes like New York City and Las Vegas.

London City Airport

London City airport has 51 destinations to from 17 countries and 1 long haul route (to New York City). Because London City Airport only has one short runway, London City has only one long haul destination to/from New York City with an Airbus from British Airways that can land on the runway. The other 50 destinations are in Europe, from big cities like Amsterdam and Berlin, or to smaller destinations in the United Kingdom or Europe.

London Luton Airport

London Luton Airport is the fourth London airports, about 50 kilometer north of London. Most airlines that fly from Luton Airport are low-budget airlines. You can fly to different destinations in Europe. London Luton Airport is also an easyJet hub airport.

London Southend Airport

From this airport you can fly to different sunny destinations, but also to Paris and Amsterdam. Most flights are operated by easyJet and FlyBe, but also to Paris by AirFrance.

  1. Hi, a great article. Just a note regarding Heathrow. Ryanair, Easyjet, Pegesaus and Flybe don’t fly out of Heathrow at present. I’ve heard Easyjet want to but as it stands there is no room from them.
